Happy Holiday House Hunting

The Charlotte area continues to attract people and businesses. This time of year we see a lot of interest from people with families already in the area, and those who are considering relocation.

It is often thought that no one buys a home during the holidays or that a house on the market will not sell, but time and again, we see that perception challenged every year at this time.

Charlotte's winter weather is generally lovely, and the moderate temperatures make looking for a home quite pleasant. We rarely have snow to contend with and the sunny skies are make house-hunting cheerful.

Sellers with homes on the market this time of year can expect more casual lookers who may be seeing what is available in their price-ranges, rather than serious buyers on a time-line. But don't despair, because many people are actually serious--and on a shortened schedule due to the holiday. Sellers should keep for-sale homes festive, but not overly decorated. A red tablecloth with a few pillar candles as a centerpiece, and a beautiful wreath on the front door are enough to say you're in the spirit--but won't look cluttered.

Buyers should plan their house-hunting with their Realtor as far ahead of time as possible. As a courtesy, home sellers would certainly appreciate more time than usual to get their homes in order and their families out for an hour or two.
